Royal College Curepipe wins 2016 Omnicane Award

Royal College Curepipe is the winner of the 2016 Omnicane Award. The results were made official during a ceremony held at Holiday Inn Mauritius Mon Trésor, Plaine Magnien, this Friday 30 September 2016.

Her Excellency, Mrs. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, President of the Republic of Mauritius, and Mr Nelson Mirthil, Chief Finance Officer of Omnicane, presented the trophy to the members of the winning team – Prithvi Rosunee, Abir Dulloo, Nabeel Hingun, Teri Bonne and Loonesh Gopal.

They each received a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and a souvenir trophy. A challenge trophy was presented to the winning college. The theme of the competition was: “How can Smart Cities best contribute in shaping Mauritius into tomorrow’s smart Republic taking into consideration our economic, social and environmental specificities as an island state?”

The jury was composed of Mr Pierre Yves Serret – Architect Studio, Chairperson of the jury, Mr Tony Lee Luen Len – Ecosis Ltd and Ms Pamela Leste – BDO– The second prize went to Dr Maurice Curé State College. The team members were: Courtney Tang Man Wah, Huan Li Chu Chun Lin, Mehek Tulsidas, Hania Riim Aukloo and Zareen Kauroo.

They each received a cash prize of Rs 8,000 and a souvenir trophy was handed to the team.

Taking into account the high level shown by various other teams, three special prizes were also awarded as follows: Queen Elizabeth College whose team comprised of Brittney Tang Man Wah, Steffi Chan Chu, Madhuvaishali Thakoor, Misbaah Soodhun and Meghan Ah-Nim, Gaëtan Raynal State College whose team comprised of Yusra Khoyrattee, Zaakirah Shaik Raman, Aadilah Mungly, Vaishnavi Poran and  Kusha Ramdeehul and Queen Elizabeth College whose team comprised of Zafiirah Nazurally, Mohini Toofanny, Urvash Abacousna, Anoushka Bucktowar and Chandini Callychurn.

Each member of these three team received a souvenir trophy.
