Our journey spans back to the 1850s and is deeply rooted in Mauritius' sugarcane heritage. Our transition, in 2009, from Mon Trésor Mon Désert to Omnicane marked a pivotal moment for the Group, reflecting our engagement to progress and diversify. Over the decades, we have successfully navigated through changing economic landscapes, embracing sustainability and innovation along the way. With our transformation into a high-value-added diversified group, we are now leading players in the agro-industry and energy segments.

The Agro-Industry and Energy Strategic Business Unit is divided into two main sections: Agro-Industry & Energy. The Agro-Industry’s strategic objectives are to promote the increase in land under sugarcane cultivation, further develop markets for refined sugar, strengthen the positioning of the refinery as the sugar hub for the region and further diversify the range of products manufactured by the distillery. The Energy segment’s strategic objective is to replace coal with biomass within our existing power plants, hence providing the country with a reliable and competitive base load renewable energy supply and to implement renewable energy projects in Mauritius and abroad.
The Properties, Retail & Brands Strategic Business Unit consists of two segments. The Properties segment’s strategic objective is to re-zone and re-strategisethe land holding of Omnicane and add value to its landmark sites. The Retail & Brands segment has a strategic objective to maximisereturn on all products available from the Agro-Industry & Energy SBU through value-added processing, packaging, branding and marketing. In line with the IHG’s brand standards, it also seeks to position Holiday Inn Mon Tresor’s reputation as a trustworthy hotel service provider.
